The American
Dental Association (ADA), the American
Medial Association, the National Institute of Dental Research,
the United States Environment Protection Agency, the Centers of
Disease Control, the Food and Drug Administration, the Department
of Health and Human Services, the Department of Defense, the National
Academy of Sciences, Proctor and Gamble, dental schools, and others
promote fluoridation. Basically their opinion is:
Water fluoridation remains the
safest, most effective, and most economical public health measure to
reduce tooth decay, and there has not been any evidence that shows a
relationship between fluoridation and other diseases in humans.
It is probably
accurate to say that opponents of fluoridation are viewed as self-styled
experts who are either uninformed or misinformed, and whose motivation
is self-serving. Information and opinions that are pro-fluoride
can be easily obtained from any of the agencies and most dentists.

Barry Grove's book, Fluoride:
Drinking Ourselves to Death, exposes the "science"
that has successfully promoted water fluoridation for what
it is: bluff, propaganda, and lies. Fluoride is a poison--more
poisonous than lead, slightly less poisonous than arsenic.
It is cumulative and collects in bones and tissues, not
just the teeth. Numerous studies done on animals point out
the obvious dangers. Other studies have shown increased
rates of cancer, osteoporosis, and other diseases. Dr. Albert
Schatz, who discovered the antibiotic streptomycin, said
in 1982 that "fluoridation is the greatest fraud that
has ever been perpetrated." Yet other studies of tens
of thousands of children show that it isn't even effective
at preventing cavities and is an extremely poor delivery

This book is excellent for
pointing out the fradulent studies that were done and which
were used as a basis for duping dentists and other health
officials into promoting fluoridation. Dr. Yiamouyiannis
outlines the history of the fraud and how promoters abuse
their power to ruin the professional careers of opponents,
especially if those opponents are credentialed. Chemical
and Engineering News of 8/1/88 Vol. 66 and Newsweek Magazine
of 9/14/92 p. 63, address this and other issues. This is
must reading for those who are disciplined to think for
themselves as opposed to those who just accept the word
of indoctrinated individuals who are beholden to the power
structure (e.g. ADA, AMA, USPHS). The "power structure"
can never admit they were wrong in promoting the practice,
because to so, would be to open themselves to untold levels
